Disaster assistance available for flood victims

July 30, 2012 By Andrew Beckett

Residents and businesses in northern Wisconsin can apply for loans to help them recover from flood damage.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved a request from Governor Scott Walker to allow individuals and businesses in several northern Wisconsin counties to apply for low-interest disaster loans. The assistance is meant to help those trying to recover from damage cause by flooding in the region this past June.

The SBA will make loans available in Douglas, Bayfield, Burnett, Sawyer and Washburn counties. Several neighboring counties in Minnesota will also qualify.

Assistance will be available in the form of $200,000 loans to repair or replace damaged property. The SBA has set a deadline of September 25th to apply for assistance.
