Lehman sworn in

July 16, 2012 By WRN Contributor

The balance of power shifted in the Wisconsin State Legislature at 12:10 Monday afternoon,as Racine Democrat John Lehman was sworn in as the Senator of the 21st District. The ceremony was delayed nearly a month by the recount of the vote following the recall election between Lehman and Republican Van Wannggard. Lehman took the oath of office with his hand, literally, on a stack of bibles. “I wanted to have my grandchildren remember this day, so we got six bibles and inscribed them,” he said. Family, friends, supporters and fellow politicians packed into the Racine County court room to watch Lehman take the oath. The state Senate will meet late Tuesday morning to elect new leadership now that Democrats control the chamber.
