Melvin On Potential Trades (AUDIO)

July 25, 2012 By Bill Scott

With the Brewers falling out of the playoff race, the team will most likely be sellers as the trade deadline approaches and Zack Greinke is the top prize. GM Doug Melvin says he’s got a system when making trade deadline deals.  He says that you have to look beyond 2012 when it comes to deadline deals and don’t just trade for players who fill a position.  Melvin says that the really need a shortstop but wouldn’t include a shortstop in a deal if he wasn’t the best available player.
