New Capitol Police chief named

July 23, 2012 By Andrew Beckett

The state has announced a new chief of police at the Capitol.

The Department of Administration says David M. Erwin has been selected to serve as Chief of the Wisconsin Capitol Police Department. The former Marine has spent the past 16 years with the State Patrol.

The 50 employee department is responsible for security in and around the state Capitol building, along with several other state government buildings. Erwin will take over as chief immediately, earning an annual salary of just over $99,386.

He replaces former Chief Charles Tubbs, who resigned in June to take a job as the director of Dane County Emergency Management.
