Stricker fires 65, 4-shots back

July 13, 2012 By Bill Scott

A decent start for Wisconsin’s Steve Stricker after the opening round of the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois.

Stricker, who is seeking his record 4th straight John Deere Classic title, fired an opening round 5-under par 65 and finds himself 4-shots off the lead.

Troy Matteson fired a bogey free 10-under par 61 to take the first round lead.  He’s 3-shots in front of Ricky Barnes who fired a 64.

Round 2 is today.
