VanDam takes Green Bay Challenge

July 2, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Bassmater Elite Series came to Green Bay last week and the youngest ever winner came out victorious.  At the age of 23-years and 10-months, Jonathon VanDam registed 79-pounds 2-ounces of Small Mouth Bass to take home the win worth $103,000.

VanDam, from Kalamazoo, MI, also earned a spot in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic.  He finished 2-pounds, 6-ounces ahead of Brandon Palaniuk for the title.  According to the Green Bay Press Gazette, Green Bay is hoping to lure a return trip by the tour as early as 2014.

The event will air on ESPN and the Outdoor Channel later this month.
