A honey of a spill

There was a honey of a problem in Fond du Lac Friday morning. A truck hauling 55 gallon barrels of honey lost four barrels on Highway 23 eastbound as it was trying to get on a ramp to Highway 41. More than 200 gallons of the sticky stuff spilled onto the roadway. “It took us about 2 hours to clean it up,” said Fire Department Captain Larry Wunsch. Firefighters resorted to using shovels to scrape the sticky mess off the road.

Wunsch said the driver, who was taking the honey to Germantown where it would be bottled, estimated the loss at about $5,000. Wunsch said they heard a couple of “sweet” puns as a result of the spill. At least they weren’t cautioning drivers to “BEE” careful.
