Arrow shooting teen heading to adult court

August 2, 2012 By WRN Contributor

Charges will be filed in adult court against the 16-year-old boy who shot a seven-year-old Campbellsport girl with an arrow. Fond du Lac County Judge Dale English Wednesday granted a waiver, moving the case to adult court. The boy will face the same charges for the shooting of Aryanna Schneeburg, 2nd degree reckless injury and obstruction.

During a hearing in juvenile court, a picture was painted of a boy: not doing well in school, who gets little supervision from his mother who he lives with, and has had minor brushes with authority.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family is stuck with medical bills that may not be paid by BadgerCare including some cosmetic surgery about a year down the road. District Attorney Dan Kaminsky says his goal isn’t to incarcerate the boy for what was an accident, but to make sure there’s time for him to pay restitution to the family. He says the case could even end up going to a plea bargain.

Judge English still needs to sign the court order moving the case to adult court before the boy’s name can be released.
