Brewers looking to move Marcum

August 28, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers are looking to deal right-handed pitcher Shaun Marcum.  According to Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports, the Brewers placed Marcum on trade waivers.

Marcum has pitched just once since missing more than two months with right elbow tightness, allowing four runs (zero earned) in five innings last Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Prior to that, Marcum had completed a 3-start rehab stint with the Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

If Marcum is claimed, the Brewers would have nearly 36 hours to negotiate a trade with the claiming team.  If he clears waivers, the Brewers would have the same amount of time to discuss Marcum with any team.

Marcum’s next scheduled start is Thursday afternoon against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
