Fiers struggles as Brewers fall

August 14, 2012 By Bill Scott

One of the few reasons to watch the Milwaukee Brewers down the stretch is rookie pitcher Mike Fiers.  But Fiers didn’t have his “A” game on Monday night in Denver.  The Colorado Rockies hit just about everything Fiers threw up there, scoring 8-earned runs in just 2+ innings in a 9-6 win over the Brewers.

DJ LeMahieu had a career-best four hits and Jeff Francis worked into the sixth inning for the Rockies.

Colorado banged out 15-hits against the Brewers.  Milwaukee got home runs from Carlos Gomez and Rickie Weeks in defeat.  Game 2 of the series is tonight.
