Police say a 67-year-old man killed while riding his bicycle on Highway 151 in the Town of Taycheedah was a well-known Catholic priest in the area. Father Vic Capriolo died Wednesday after he was hit by a car. Captain Dean Will with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department says the accident hits close to home, because Capriolo performed wedding and funeral for members of their department.
Will says it was a tragic accident: witnesses told police the priest traveled into the path of a vehicle driven by a 74-year-old Fond du Lac woman. Capriolo had been with Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac since 1998, but had also been at parishes in Milwaukee, Grafton, Whitefish Bay, and Wauwatosa.
