Brewers continue to put the heat on

Ryan Braun clubbed his 39th and 40th home runs of the season, giving him 201 for his career, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-0 win over the New York Mets at Miller Park.

The long balls for Braun came as he pursue’s his second straight National League MVP award.

Rookie Wily Peralta tossed 8-innings of 2-hit shutout baseball, improving to
2-0 on the season.

The Brewers are 2 1/2 games behind the front running St. Louis Cardinals for the final NL Wildcard spot.  The Brewers have won 19 of their last 22 games. 

The Brewers are off today.  They’ll open a 3-game series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.
