Sheriff works to prevent unsupervised child deaths

September 20, 2012 By WRN Contributor

The investigation by the Burnett County Sheriff’s Department into the death of a 3-year old found in a canal has wrapped up. Last month, the body of Reena Williams was found near her Danbury home. Sheriff Dean Roland says, on that fateful day, the girl had strayed into town earlier before being returned home, only to wander off again.

Roland is reminding parents to keep an eye on their kids. On his weekly radio show, he’s been telling the public to contact his office if they see a young child being unsupervised. “I’ll tell you those calls have gone up quite a bit,” he says.

There’s no word if charges will be filed in the Williams case.
