Social Security fraud suspects in court

September 25, 2012 By WRN Contributor

Three family members accused of taking three decades worth of an Amherst woman’s Social Security checks made their initial court appearances on Monday. Charles Jost, his sister Delores Disher and her husband Ronald Disher are believed to have fraudulently received over $175,000.

Prosecutor Veronica Isherwood said the defense attorney believes Jost ought to be evaluated, to see whether he can participate in his defense. The court ordered a competency evaluation for Jost.

All three are currently held on $20,000 cash bonds, and a motion to lower the bond for Ronald Disher will likely be addressed during the preliminary hearings Friday.

If alive, Marie Jost would be 101 next month, however she and son Theodore have not been seen since the early 1980’s. Investigators are trying to determine their whereabouts – and searching the Jost property to determine if one or both of them were buried there.
