Stave could get first collegiate start on Saturday

September 19, 2012 By Bill Scott

The players know and the coaches aren’t saying, but all signs point to redshirt freshman Joel Stave getting the start at quarterback for the Badgers this Saturday against UTEP.

Stave got the bulk of the work with the No. 1 unit in practice on Tuesday, a sign that points to him making his first collegiate start.

Danny O’Brien started the first three games of the season for the Badgers but was benched at halftime on Saturday in Wisconsin’s 2-point win over Utah State.
