Teens burned when firework explodes in car

September 24, 2012 By WRN Contributor

Several teenagers received varying degrees of burns early Monday morning, after a firework ignited inside the car they were in.

Sparta Police are not sure where or when it happened exactly, but five 17-year-olds drove to the hospital after they apparently tried to throw a lit firework out of the car window, but it went off inside. A press release said Mayo Clinic Health Systems informed police around 4:30 a.m., and four of the five teens were flown to other hospitals. Police did not indicate their condition.
