Timber Rattlers stay alive in MWL Playoffs

After a game 1 loss in Burlington, 4-0 on Wednesday night, the Wisconsin

Timber Rattlers needed to return home and win on Thursday, to force a 3rd and deciding game in their Midwest League playoff series.  That’s exactly what they did.

Fond du Lac native Chad Pierce went the distance on the mound, tossing a 3-hit shutout in Wisconsin’s 4-0 victory over the Bee’s.

Pierce delivered the first 9-inning complete-game shutout of the season for the Rattlers.  Tyler Thornburg is the last Wisconsin pitcher to throw a complete game shutout, back on May 29, 2011.

Wisconsin did all of its damage early, scoring 3-times in the 1st and once in the second.  It gives the Timber Rattlers momentum in the series.

The 3rd and deciding game in the series is tonight at Fox Cities Stadium (6:30pm).  The winner advances to the second round next week.

Clinton 7, Beloit 5  (10 innings)
Lake County 5, Bowling Green 4
Fort Wayne 9, Lansing 6
