Wrong-way driver arrested for I-94 crash

September 25, 2012 By WRN Contributor

An Eau Claire man faces drunken driving charges after allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 94 and caused a crash early Tuesday morning. The Wisconsin State Patrol said the crash happened in Jackson County near Osseo, shortly before 2:00 a.m.

Several drivers called 911 to report a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. The car then collided with an oncoming semi. Anthony Steves of Eau Claire was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and driving the wrong way on a divided highway. Other charges may be filed pending the outcome of the investigation.

The 46 year-old Steves was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The semi driver was not injured.
