Woman accused of slow poisoning of dog

October 24, 2012 By WRN Contributor

A disturbing story of animal abuse has triggered responses of anger and outrage around the country. Sean Janas of Wausau is jailed, charged with slowly poisoning her boyfriend’s dog with pills, bleach, and drain cleaner. She allegedly made diary entries explaining the pleasure she got from watching the lab-shepard mix suffer and die.

Since the story broke, it has become a topic of social media and blog entries and has prompted a Tomahawk woman to start an online petition at Change.org asking Marathon County’s judge and prosecutor to seek the maximum allowable punishment. That petition received over 300 signatures in its first 24 hours from all over the country.

Janas could get over five years and $30,000 in fines if convicted. She’ll be back in court October 31.
