Badger Hockey on home ice Friday and Saturday

November 23, 2012 By Bill Scott

Both the Badger Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams open home series on Friday.  The Men will play host to a pair with Minnesota State while the Women welcomes St. Cloud State to town for the weekend.

It’s been a rough start from Mike Eaves and the Badgers.  Wisconsin is just 1-5-2 to start the season and is averaging just 1.75 goals per game. Eaves tries to explain what has been going on…

Mark Zengerle, the team’s leading scorer, has missed time with a broken finger.  The Badgers are also waiting the arrival of Freshman Nic Kerdiles who is ineligible until next weekend.  Couple those two missing pieces with the recent resignation of Assistant Coach Bill Butters, the Badgers have had some excuses for the slow start.  Eaves isn’t using them though…

Minnesota State comes to town with a 3-5-2 record.  Games are Friday and Saturday night and both start at 7:00.

The Badger Women are off to a solid start to the year with an 8-4-2.  Mark Johnson’s team has won 5 of their 6 games entering the weekend.  St. Cloud State enters the weekend 2-9-1.  The Women play both Friday and Saturday at the La Bahn Arena with 2PM starts each day.
