Bulldogs upset Marquette

November 20, 2012 By Bill Scott

Butler guard Rotnei Clarke hit a running 3-pointer at the buzzer yesterday to give the Bulldogs a 72-71 win over the Marquette Golden Eagles in Lahaina, Hawaii on Monday afternoon in the Maui Invitational.

It was an acrobatic shot with Marquette’s Derrick Wilson and Jamil Wilson right there in Clarke’s face.  It didn’t matter.  Clarke’s shot hit nothing but net and the Golden Eagles were on their way to defeat and into the losing bracket of the Maui Invitational.

The Bulldogs shot 57% in the second half against Marquette and committed no turnovers.

Marquette will take on Mississippi State in a 2nd round losers bracket game this afternoon at 1:30pm.
