Man dies near tree stand

November 9, 2012 By WRN Contributor

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found dead near his tree stand.

At approximately 9:36 p.m. Thursday night, the Lincoln County Dispatch center received a 911 call from a man who went to check on his father who had been hunting in the woods in the Town of Tomahawk. The woods was located about 10 miles west of the City of Tomahawk on State Highway 86.

The man was found unresponsive underneath his tree stand. A Lincoln County Deputy and Tomahawk EMS were first on scene and determined the man was deceased.

It appears that the man may have suffered a heart attack while in the approximately 20 foot tree stand and fell to the ground. Foul play is not suspected.

A DNR warden and Tomahawk Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
