Marquette rebounds against Mississippi State

November 21, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Marquette Golden Eagles took their frustrations from Tuesday’s loss in the Maui Invitational to Butler out on Mississippi State on Wednesday, rolling to a 89-62 win over the Bulldogs.

Butler knocked off the Golden Eagles Tuesday with a buzzer beating three-pointer.  Marquette put that loss behind them quickly however.  They jumped out early on an undermanned Mississippi State (1-3) team and were never threatened.

Vander Blue scored 18 points and Devante Gardner added 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles (3-1).

Marquette faces USC (3-1) in today’s 5th place game at 4pm Wisconsin time.  The Trojans are led by former Marquette coach Kevin O’Neill.
