St. Norbert men’s hockey blanks UW-River Falls

November 11, 2012 By admin

St. Norbert goalkeeper David Jacobson makes a save against UW-River Falls

The St. Norbert College Green Knight men’s hockey team swept the UW-River Falls Falcons defeating them 7-1 Friday night and 4-0 Saturday night.

These back-to-back conference wins come on the heels of a road loss to Gustavus Adophus College last weekend.

The Green Knights (6-1, 4-0 NCHA) outshot the Falcons (4-2, 0-2 NCHA) 33-22 with sophomore goalkeeper David Jacobson recording the shutout.

When asked about what impressed Green Knight head coach Tom Coghlin the most Saturday night, he said it was Jacobson and his defensive core.

Freshman forward Tyler Zepada opened the scoring for St. Norbert at the 4:08 mark in the first period.

Three minutes into the second period, St. Norbert made the game 2-0 though sophomore defenceman Marian Fiala.

Freshman forward Erik Cooper made the game 3-0 at the 4:39 mark and junior forward Joe Perry scored the fourth goal at the 16:38 mark.

St. Norbert faces 11th ranked UW-Eau Claire at home next weekend, and coach Coghlin knows what playing Eau Claire means.
