Guilty verdict in Fond du Lac murder

December 17, 2012 By WRN Contributor

A Fond du Lac County jury has found a 36-year-old man guilty in the shooting death of his wife. The jury on Monday returned guilty verdicts against Jason Anderson for first degree intentional homicide and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Anderson shot and killed his wife Nicole in November of last year while she was sleeping in their home. Prosecutors say he then fled the state and was eventually arrested in Alabama.

The victim’s father, Grover Cannon, said he was “very happy with the decision.”

District Attorney Dan Kaminsky says the verdict was the result of a lot of hard work by police, which included nearly 190 pieces of evidence that were introduced during the two-week trial. Prosecutors called over 30 witnesses to the stand, while the defense called none.

Defense attorney Robin Shellow says she will appeal the verdict. A sentencing date has not been set, but the murder charge calls for an automatic life sentence.
