Jail recording played at murder trial of husband

December 12, 2012 By WRN Contributor

A Fond du Lac County jury Tuesday got to hear from the 36-year-old Fond du Lac man standing trial for the shooting death of his wife. Jason Anderson didn’t take the witness stand, but was heard from an interview Fond du Lac Police detectives recorded with him at a jail in Birmingham, Alabama just days after the death of 33-year-old Nicole Anderson. He’d fled there to visit his mother, but didn’t work up the nerve to see her.

Anderson was emotional at the beginning of the interview saying he didn’t shoot his wife intentionally. He told Detective Steve Kaufman the gun fired twice and he ran over to his wife and knew she was dead. Anderson admitted being “wasted,” saying they’d both been drinking that day and he smoked some weed and did some cocaine.

Several times he said he’d planned to take his own life, but just couldn’t go through with it. The trial continues today.
