Marquette hits milestone in win against Savannah State

December 16, 2012 By admin

The Marquette Golden Eagles took down the Savannah State Tigers 71-51 Saturday night, and reached a landmark 1,500th win for the school’s program.  Marquette becomes the 43rd NCAA program to reach this win total.

This win came hot on the heels of Marquette’s announcement on Saturday that they, along with with DePaul, Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John’s, and Villanova, will leave the Big East Conference.

The Golden Eagles (7-2) were led by Vander Blue who scored 14 points, and Davante Gardner who scored 14 points and had six rebounds.  Junior Cadougan had 11 points on the game, and Steve Taylor Jr. had 10 points with six rebounds.

The Tigers (5-6) were led by Arnold Louis who had 10 points and 11 rebounds, giving him a double-double on the night.  Rashad Hassan also had 14 points on the night.

Marquette’s next test will be Wednesday as they come to Green Bay to take on the UW-Green Bay Phoenix.
