January 3, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Wisconsin Badger women’s basketball team dropped their Big Ten opener on Wednesday night, 70-52 to Nebraska in Lincoln.

Wisconsin (8-6 overall, 0-1 Big Ten) climbed to within 2-points late in the first half but couldn’t get any closer.

Nebraska (11-3, 1-0) scored 27 of its points off Badgers turnovers as Wisconsin finished with 20 giveaways.

Wisconsin shot just 20% (3 of 15) from 3-point range.  Cassie Rochel had 15 to lead the Badgers.  Jacki Gulczynski added 13 and Tiera Stephen added 10.

Wisconsin returns home to play its Big Ten home opener Sunday afternoon against Minnesota at 2pm.
