County, businesses prep for mass shooter scenarios

January 24, 2013 By WRN Contributor

With mass shootings happening more frequently over the past several years, more people want to know what to do if they are ever faced with an active shooter. Wausau Area Chamber of Commerce teamed up with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department to host two training seminars Wednesday.

Law enforcement met with business leaders to inform them about history of mass shootings, and described police priorities and procedures when dealing with an active shooter. Business leaders received some pointers on what to do and how training and preparation could save lives.

Chamber officials expect to schedule more of these sessions due to high community interest.
