Governor thanks responders to Capitol threat

January 17, 2013 By WRN Contributor

The governor personally thanks those who took into custody a Milwaukee man accused of threatening the state Capitol. Kvon Smith, 20, was arrested in the rotunda Tuesday afternoon after posting a video on Facebook saying he would “do harm.” He claimed to have Molotov cocktails on his person however investigators didn’t think the contents of the bottles were flammable. The items have  been sent to the state crime lab for testing.

“I called two of the Capitol Police officers who were involved in apprehending the suspect and thanked them,” said Governor Walker. “I also want to thank others around the state who were involved in it.”

Walker called it a “classic example” of law enforcement agencies working together.

Prosecutors plan to file formal charges in the case today.

The Wisconsin State Journal is reporting family and friends of Smith say he had quit taking his medication for schizophrenia.
