A Wausaukee woman accused of embezzling funds from a volunteer ambulance service has been convicted as part of a plea agreement. In Marinette County Court Thursday, Amanda Stumbris, 41, entered guilty pleas to four felony counts of Theft from a Business Setting. Under the plea agreement, Marinette County District Attorney Allen Brey plans to recommend Stumbris serve 11 years of initial confinement in prison and another 11 years of extended supervision.
Brey says the crime Stumbris allegedly committed is like stealing from a church collection plate. While serving as the Wausaukee Rescue Squad’s treasurer from 2009 to 2012, she allegedly stole over $130,000 using the organization’s checks and debit card.
The sentencing hearing for Stumbris is scheduled for March 21.
