Supreme Court rejects another motion in Voter ID challenges

January 15, 2013 By Andrew Beckett

The state Supreme Court has rejected another request to take up a challenge to Wisconsin’s Voter ID law.

The high court on Monday denied a request from the state to take up a direct appeal of a Dane County court decision that resulted in one of the two injunctions blocking the law. The Supreme Court also rejected a motion asking to combine the lawsuit brought by the Milwaukee Branch of the NAACP with a separate challenge filed by the League of Women Voters.

The court did not offer any reasons for why it was rejecting the motions, although the ruling is in line with how it previously ruled on similar requests.

The decision means both cases will remain before the Court of Appeals, which has not indicated when decisions could be released.
