WAVE calls Clarke ad irresponsible

January 29, 2013 By Bob Hague

Controversy  ahs surrounded a public service announcement  from the Milwaukee County Sheriff. Jeri Bonavia with Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort said the controversial and attention-getting PSA from Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke was irresponsible

“I think if he’s truly interested in public safety, there’s a number of things he could have included in that PSA,” she said, such as steps to safeguard themselves against crime. “To put out this kind of really dangerous idea, across the board, as though it;s right for everyone, we expect more form our sheriff than that,” said Bonavia.

Clarke’s message got him some attention, including appearances on CNN and Fox News Network – and a suggestion from Mayor Tom Barrett that he was auditioning for the next ‘Dirty Harry’ movie.
