February 4, 2013 By Bill Scott

After a slow start on Sunday afternoon, the Wisconsin Badgers started to heat things

Ben Brust

up and beat Illinois 74-68 in Champaign.

Ben Brust scored 20 points, Frank Kaminsky added 19 and Ryan Evans 15 to keep the Badgers in 5th place in the Big Ten at 6-3.

The Illini have lost 7 of 9 and dropped to 10th place in the Big Ten.

The Badgers (15-7, 6-3 Big Ten) shot under 30 percent for most of the first half and combined with the Illini to score 14 points in the game’s first eight minutes.

The Badgers eventually started to make baskets and the Illini didn’t, at least until it was too late.

Joseph Bertrand’s 17 points led the Illini.

The Badgers didn’t attempt a single free throw in the last game against Ohio State.  Yesterday, they attempted 42 and made 28, both are season highs.
