Driver dead in Winnebago Co. crash

A driver was killed Tuesday morning in a head-on crash in Winnebago County. According to the sheriff’s department, the driver of a delivery truck lost control on state Highway 26, due to road conditions, and struck an oncoming car.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver wasn’t seriously hurt. The accident happened around 6:30 a.m., near Cottonwood Avenue, in the town of Nekimi. The highway was closed to traffic for nearly five hours following the crash.
