Green Bay’s Sykes Fouse earn HL honors

February 18, 2013 By Bill Scott

Green Bay Phoenix sophomore guard Keifer Sykes has been named the Horizon League men’s basketball co-player of the week, while Green Bay freshman forward Jordan Fouse has been named the Horizon League Newcomer of the Week.  The award is the third for Sykes and the second for Fouse.

Sykes averaged 23.5 points per game on the week, scoring 38 of 47 points after halftime.  In his last eight games, Sykes is averaging 12.6 ppg in the second half.  On the year, the sophomore sits fourth in scoring in the Horizon League at 15.5 ppg.

Fouse continues to fill the box score, and did so in Green Bay’s two wins last week.  With 206 rebounds this season, Fouse sits four shy of breaking the 44-year old freshman program record.  Fouse is also just six steals shy of the Green Bay freshman record.

Green Bay steps out of conference play this week for the BracketBusters on Feb. 23.  Green Bay meets Missouri Valley Conference foe Drake on Saturday night 7pm tip.
