Life term for man who killed mom

February 7, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A Brillion man convicted of killing his mother won’t be able to get out of prison for nearly 50 years. Randal Rosenthal was in Outagamie County court Wednesday morning, for a sentencing hearing, for the death of 52 year-old Kathleen Remter of Kaukauna. Judge Michael Gage decided the 35 year-old Rosenthal won’t be eligible for extended supervision until 2061, when he’d be 85 years old.

Prosecutors said Rosenthal shot Remter, while the two were fishing at Rapide Croche Park, near Wrightstown, in July of 2011. Her body was found in the Fox River, near the Rapide Croche dam. The Outagamie County District Attorney’s office says Rosenthal killed his mother to collect her $586,000 life insurance policy.
