Chritton trial heads to jury

March 14, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A jury is expected to begin deliberations in the case against a 41 year-old Madison man accused of starving and beating his daughter. Chad Chritton’s trial has run nearly three weeks. The defense rested Wednesday, with Chritton not taking the stand in his defense.

Chritton’s wife is also charged and will stand trial next month. Also, a stepbrother is charged with sexually abusing the girl, who was found wandering a Madison neighborhood a year ago, on a cold February day, wearing just a night-gown and no shoes. She weighed just under 70 pounds.

The girl, now 16 years old, testified against her father, saying he kept her locked in basement and endured years of physical abuse and inadequate food. The defense had adequate food and clothing available, but chose not to dress appropriately or eat well.
