Eau Claire wins National Hockey Title

March 18, 2013 By Bill Scott

The UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey team fell behind 2-0, then bounced back with 4-straight goals to beat Oswego State (N.Y.) 5-3 in the NCAA Division III championship in Lake Placid over the weekend.

The Blugolds were making their 1st Frozen Four appearance in school history, while the Lakers were returning to the championship game for the 2nd time in as many years.

It’s the 9th National Championship in school history and the 2nd national championship game for Eau Claire Hockey, the 1st coming in 1984 when they won the NAIA title.
