Green Bay ousted from 1st round of NCAA’s

March 25, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Phoenix dug themselves a big hole and their second half comeback fell short, falling to LSU 75-71 in the opening round of the NCAA Women’s basketball tournament.

Green Bay pulled to within 3-points in the final minute but would not get any closer.  Green Bay’s 24-game win streak ended, as did their season at 29-3.

Seniors Sarah Eichler, Adrian Ritchie and Jenny Gilbertson had 22, 16 and 15 points respectively to lead the way.

Green Bay scored 32 points in the final 10-minutes to claw their way back in the game.

It’s the first opening round loss for Green Bay since their last matchup against LSU back in 2009.
