Prosecutors in St. Paul say that if Wausau area native Kira Trevino’s husband is convicted of killing her, they may seek a longer prison sentence than that called for by the charges against him. In a court filing this week, the Ramsey County District Attorney’s office said it believes 39 year-old Jeffrey Trevino hid the body of his wife.

Trevino is scheduled to go to trial May 28, on two counts of second-degree murder. The search continues for 30 year-old wife Kira Steger Trevino, who will have been missing two months this Sunday. Volunteers plan a weekend search in two parks in Ramsey and Anoka counties in the Twin Cities’ suburbs.

Search organizer Jodie Leko said they’ll need lots of help. Police have provided direction to the volunteers on where to look. Leko said the search will coincide with Earth Day clean-up activities in both parks.
