Lawmakers could order yet another audit of the troubled Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
Members of the Legislature’s Joint Audit Committee will meet next week to review a scathing report on WEDC, which showed the job creation agency broke state laws and failed to track money it awarded. State Senator Rob Cowles (R-Green Bay), who co-chairs the panel, says lawmakers want answers and “the heat is on” to fix the big problems.

WEDC officials say they have been working to address many of the issues found by the latest audit, although Cowles says the agency has already failed to deal with problems uncovered in the past. He questions whether lawmakers can trust their word.
The Green Bay Republican expects lawmakers will want to continue applying pressure with another audit. He says that follow up review will show whether the problems have been dealt with properly.
