Badger women drop NCAA Regional opener

May 17, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Wisconsin women’s softball team opened the NCAA Oregon Regional with a 3-2 loss in 8-innings against North Carolina in Eugene, Oregon.

Wisconsin (42-12) is still alive in the four-team, double-elimination tournament.  They’ll face BYU this afternoon (4pm).  The Cougars fell to host Oregon in their opener 5-2 on Thursday.

The Badgers forced extra innings when Marissa Mersch belted a home run to right on the first pitch.
