Estrada returns to form, Brewers end losing skid

May 14, 2013 By Bill Scott

After a couple of poor outings, Marco Estrada turned in a solid performance on Monday night.  Estrada allowed just 3-hits through 7-innings and pitched the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

The Brewers put a halt to their 4-game losing streak and it was a big turn-around for Estrada, who coughed up 8-runs on 6-hits in a loss to the Cardinals on May 5th.

Norichika Aoki went 3 for 5 with three rbis and two stolen bases.  Jean Segura added three hits and three stolen bases.  The Brewers stole 6-bases in total against Pittsburgh’s backup catcher Mike McKenry.

The Brewers beat Pittsburgh’s ace, A.J. Burnett (3-4).

Kyle Lohse (1-4, 3.53) pitches game 2 of the series for the Brewers tonight.  Jeff Locke (3-1, 2.95) goes for the Pirates.

Jean Segura

Brewers rookie shortstop Jean Segura is the National League’s Player of the Week.  Segura hit .500 last week with 2 home runs, 2 rbi’s and 5 runs scored.

Rickie Weeks

The Brewers sat Rickie Weeks last night for the first time this season.  They started Yuniesky Betancourt at 2nd base.  Weeks entered the series hitting .183.  He got a pinch-hitting appearance late and struck out, watching his average dip to .181.
