Family with Wisconsin ties loses daughter in Oklahoma

May 23, 2013 By WRN Contributor

The family of one of the children killed in the Moore, Oklahoma tornado this week has ties to Wisconsin.

Laura Schneider of Fond du Lac grew up with Nicole Angle, whose nine-year-old daughter Sydney was killed in Monday’s tornado. Schneider says she met the girl last fall, when the family returned for a wedding. She says Sydney was a “sweet young lady” with a smile that would “warm your heart.”

Schneider says Nicole’s husband Dan got a chance to transfer from Quad Graphics in Lomira out to a new plant in Oklahoma City eight or nine years ago. She says they were making a life out there that the tornado shattered. Not only did the family lose their daughter, but their home was also destroyed.

A fund has been set up at the Hometown Bank branches in Fond du Lac. Schneider says she overwhelmed by how much people want to help.
