Green Bay to play in 2013 Great Alaska Shootout

May 3, 2013 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Phoenix men’s basketball team will appear in the 2013 Great Alaska Shootout from Nov. 27-30 at Sullivan Arena.  The eight-team field in the 36th annual event also includes tournament host Alaska Anchorage, Harvard, TCU, Denver, Indiana State, Tulsa and Pepperdine.

Green Bay will open the tournament against Pepperdine on Thursday, Nov. 28.  Winners advance to the semifinals with losing teams moving to the consolation round.  The winner of the Green Bay/Pepperdine matchup will face the winner of Harvard-Denver on Friday, Nov. 29.

Five of the teams in the field, including Green Bay, appeared in postseason play in 2012-13.  Green Bay last appeared in the Great Alaska Shootout in 1993, finishing in sixth place with a 1-2 record.
