Pointers secure automatic bid to NCAA D-3 Regional

May 13, 2013 By Bill Scott

UW-Stevens Point pulled out a 6-5 win over UW-La Crosse in the WIAC Tournament on Sunday to secure the automatic bid to the NCAA Division 3 baseball regionals.  That field will be announced today.

The Pointers (35-9) will likely stay in the Midwest Region and play at host UW-Whitewater.  The Warhawks finished the Tournament with a 34-7 record, but they’re expected to receive an at-large bid into the NCAA field.

La Crosse (21-21) eliminated top-seeded Whitewater 12-2, then knocked off the Pointers 2-1 to set up the winner-take-all WIAC Championship game.
