World record attempt at food drive

May 25, 2013 By WRN Contributor

An effort to break a Guinness Book of World Records record for the largest food drive culminates in Fond du Lac this Memorial Day Weekend. Fond du Lac High School junior Danny Loomans is one of the students spearheading the effort at the school Saturday and Sunday.

Looman says food will be arriving from all over as they attempt to break the world record of 558,885 pounds. He says they are even getting a big contribution of food from the Green Bay Packers.

The food collected during the drive will be distributed to food pantries in five different counties impacting over 80,000 people. Counties involved include Fond du Lac, Brown, Outagamie, Sheboygan and Winnebago. More information about the effort is available at theĀ foodforfreedom.org website.
