Ryan Braun was held out of the Milwaukee Brewers lineup on Wednesday because of
a sore right thumb.
Manager Ron Roenicke said Braun’s absence had nothing to do with reports that Major League Baseball is trying to suspend Braun as part of its Biogenesis investigation.
Roenicke said the club hasn’t collected any information from MLB regarding Braun and he’s tired of all of the Braun chatter.
Aramis Ramirez also sat out Wednesday’s 6-1 loss to the A’s.
Scooter Gennett collected his first MLB hit, a single to right off of Jesse Chavez. Gennett also walked in the second inning.
Norichika Aoki collected his 1,500th professional hit. He had 1,284 in Japan and 216 now with the Brewers.
Tyler Thornburg, who was called up from Triple-A earlier in the day, pitched 2-scoreless innings. He gave up 3-hits but no runs.
