Colon leads A’s to series win over Brewers

June 6, 2013 By Bill Scott

Bartolo Colon won his fourth straight start and Brandon Moss clubbed a 3-run homer to lead the Oakland A’s to a 6-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.

Colon gave up one earned run on eight hits over seven innings as the A’s have won 16 of their last 19 games.

Yovani Gallardo took the loss, allowing 6-hits and 5 earned runs in six innings to lose for the 5th time in his last six starts.

Gallardo was locked in a dual with Colon through six, tied 1-1.  But the Brewers right hander walked the leadoff man in the 7th.  The A’s then got an infield hit and a single to lead the bases.  Gallardo gave up a 2-run single and then reliever Michael Gonzalez served up the 3-run homer to Moss.

The Brewers actually took a lead early when Carlos Gomez’s 1st inning triple drove in Jean Segura.

The Brewers open a 4-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Miller Park tonight.
